Although it doesn’t offer the 80-100kt yield that the Trident warheads deliver.

Terrorist link to Loch Lomond blast? →
In this news report ITV say that security sources suggest the blast was from someone with ability to build ‘powerful bomb’.
Could be some fuel for the fire here, just so long as I don’t take any stylistic tips from the good people at ITV.
Could do with a filthy explosion like this!

Wow, it’s like The Hurt Locker… but Irish…. but in the future! Inspiring stuff.
'Even Newer Beat Sheet' Response
After Tom produced a rough draft of the screenplay based on the ‘New Beat Sheet’, we realised that we had put too much emphasis on our characters attempting to affect the wider world of the film. I had suggested this previously in a bid to give the story more purpose. Instead, it muddied my original vision of ordinary people dealing with each other when put in these drastic...

Nuclear bomb goes off in Scotland. KERCHOW!
Carrie and a badly burned Rob are trying to gain access to the bunker. Eventually Duncan lets them in (after he learns of the baby and Rob learns of Carrie and Duncan’s previous relationship)

Notes on Notes
I agree with most points in Tom’s Yet More Script Notes post. Reduced time scale, all characters having been involved with the anti war movement and Carrie having a previous relationship with Duncan all allow us to get into the nitty gritty of the story faster.
The corruption of a symbol of idealism such as the anti-war movement is very appealing to me. It bleeds into the wider theme of...

Yet More Script Notes
I’ve done a lot of thinking about what we can do to strip down the story a little and really make the focus be Carrie’s journey (and make Carrie’s journey be a reflection of our themes).
The first thing that I’m suggesting is that we drastically reduce the timescale that the film is set in so that what we see all takes place within the first hour after the explosion rather than spreading things...

Primary theme: desire for order (fear of chaos) Secondary theme: desire for validation (or finding the true self/self worth) Allegory: Although our scientific knowledge and technical power is ever growing, our ability to communicate with one another, to reason and make compassionate moral judgements is in a constant state of flux. In a world where we are bombarded with infromation without a...

Script class
Just had a really interesting class from screenwriter Mark Grindle. He gave us a lecture on understanding the components that make up narrative in order to better understand the writing process.
General Notes;
The screenwriter structures a screenplay to make sense for the viewer.
Must be in control of the audiences emotions and intelect.
Make the audience ask active questions “Who...

Beginnings
Tom and I have been discussing the idea of a short drama set against the back drop of a nuclear explosion for several months now. The original format was to be of three short webisodes with periods of time missing between each ep. We got a chance to have a good discussion on it recently and made some serious headway.
The format will no longer be episodic, instead it will be an 8 to 10 min...
